Council's carton collection kicks-off
Council’s carton collection kicks-off
Residents are being reminded that they can add food and
drink cartons to their green recycling boxes for recycling from
Monday, 7 December.
Ealing Council is introducing the Tetra Pak-style cartons as it
continues to find even more ways to recycle and encourage
households to do their bit for the environment. Around 400 tonnes
of waste could be saved from landfill by recycling these cartons as
part of the borough’s green box recycling collection
service.
The paper-based cartons, which are used for things like orange
juice, smoothies, soups and wine, can be recycled into a number of
different products, ranging from plasterboard liner to
high-strength paper bags and envelopes.
More than 12 tonnes was collected in the first two weeks of the
clear sack recycling service, which launched on 16 November to
residents in flats with 13-24 properties, flats above shops and
properties on red routes.
